What are some really good colleges in nyc ?

I live on long island and I don't want to leave the state but I do want to be away from home. The Manhattan has plenty of greats schools with great opportunity but im not sure of any specific ones. Im thinking about majoring in psychology or some type of cosmetology .. my gpa so far is about a high B or a low A! I have schools on my list such as Fordham and St Johns but I want some schools that are actually in the city, is very diverse, and has alot to offer!
